David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, the international guest in the 3rd edition of Serielizados Fest
We feel privileged to announce that one of the most brilliant, and certainly one of the most influential minds of 21st century television is coming to Barcelona. David Simon, writer on such shows as ‘The Wire’, ‘Treme’, ‘Show Me a Hero’ and ‘Generation Kill’, is coming to Serielizados Fest, the International Festival of Television Series in Barcelona. He will talk in-depth about his most representative works and the issues that they deal with: our innermost fears, the society we live in, education, journalism and politics.
David Simon will take part in the following events at Serielizados Fest:
- He will give a masterclass for Audiovisual Communication students and professionals at the Auditori de la Facultat de Comunicació Blanquerna, moderated by David Trueba.
- The Facultat de Comunicació Blanquerna will present David Simon with the Outstanding Contribution Award for his role in revitalizing television fiction and audiovisual language.
- The Inauguration of Serielizados Fest at Teatre del CCCB. This will consist of an informal conversation with journalist Toni Garcia Ramon ranging from topics such as the state of American politics to life as a newspaper journalist.
- A talk on Politics and TV Shows at Arts Santa Mònica.
Serielizados Fest will be held from the 7th until the 10th April in Barcelona.
Besides David Simon’s presence, the Serielizados Fest will offer an extensive program throughout the four days of the festival comprising of Spanish premieres of a number of international documentaries at Cinema Maldà; talks by both national and international audiovisual professionals; screenings of episodes from specific TV shows; tributes to the best shows of the year; and finally, comedy and music performances.
All these activities will be held in several different locations besides our main location, the Arts Santa Mònica.
Following on from the second edition of the festival, which brought Dan Harmon, the writer on ‘Community’ and ‘Rick&Morty’ as special guest; Serielizados Fest affirms its presence in Barcelona by welcoming to its third edition David Simon, the emblem of the network HBO and the most prestigious figure of North American television today.
