Guest country: Iceland

'Trapped' tv series.
Iceland… Cod, cold, aurora borealis and Björk. Here’s our general knowledge on our northern neighbors. Still, there’s something in this remote island other than cliffs, bankers in jail and 9 euro beers. Icelandic fiction hasn’t had a big part in the Nordic boom, and we’ve gotten used to just seeing the country’s landscapes in the occasional American superproduction, but Serielizados Fest 2018 has decided to mend this wild injustice.
To do that, we’ll receive the visit of Jón Gnarr, actor, comedian and ex-mayor of Reykjavik, who will tell us how he got to and survived being the mayor of a European capital at the CCCB. To mark his visit, Serielizados Fest the will dedicate a small cycle to his work at the Filmoteca of Catalonia, which will hold the Spanish premiere of Borgarstjórinn (The Mayor), in which Gnarr plays, erm… the mayor of Reykjavik; bring back Næturvaktin (The Night Shift), a modern classic in Icelandic sitcom; and screen the documentary Gnarr about the man himself.
Screenwriter Sigurjón Kjartansson, head of development in RVK Studios who, along with Baltasar Kormákur, killed it with criminal drama Trapped, will also be with us. Kjartansson, one of the main guests in the PRO Session, will present the pre-production process of this series as a case study and explain the keys to its second season. Also Gísli Örn Garðarsson, cocreator and director of Blackport, winner at the last Berlinale CoPro Series pitching, will explain the coproduction of this corruption and oligarchy plot surrounding the fishing industry in the 80’s Iceland. Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, cocreator and lead actress of the series, will join him.
