The History of SZS Fest

Since 2014 the Serielizados Fest is promoting and trying to be the ideal place for gathering the fiction tv lovers once in a year. After two first editions with a great feedback from the audience and amazing guests such as Dan Harmon in an international level or Javier Olivares in a national one, the Barcelona International Series Festival makes another step bringing HBO emblem David Simon from the United States. In addition, this third edition of the festival also grows in spaces and its program, with a documentary section, most of them unseen in Spain, about television fiction and everything around this phenomenon.
THIRD EDITION: April 2016
With David Simon as the main guest, the Festival makes a leap forward. The creator of ‘The Wire’ led an edition with 33 activities in 7 different venues around Barcelona: Arts Santa Mònica, Cine Maldà, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Mazda Space, CCCB, Fàbrica Moritz and Auditorium of the Faculty of Communication Blanquerna. The 3rd edition of Serielizados Fest reaches a total of 3,500 people during the 7th 8th, 9th and 10th of April. The full programming here.
SECOND EDITION: Abril 2015
Serielizados Fest was a recent born series festival. For having more force and impact SERIELIZADOS took part on the cultural festival contest Movistar Arty and their project was one of the winners. The Serielizados Fest was expanded to three days and with new and diferent places (Arts Santa Monica, Sala Apolo and Anitga Fàbrica Estrella Damm) and gave a new big step having as the showrunner Dan Harmon as an international special guest. During the three days more than 1.500 people atended at those very different events of the fest:
- European premiere of the documentary Harmontown, hosted by Dan Harmon.
- Debate about piracy and new ways of audiovisual consumption with Series.ly, Filmin, the showrunner Javier Olivares, the critic Josep Maria Bunyol and Ferran Clavell.
- Projection of the documentary Disco & Atomic War, about the tv pop culture influence on the communist republic of Estonia.
- Talk about catalan microseries with Roger Coma (Les Coses Grans) and Roger de Gràcia, Oriol Vila y Raquel Salvador (Nico&Sunset) and Marc Crehuet as moderator.
- Journalist Toni Garcia Ramon interviews Dan Harmon.
- Oculus Rift audiovisual 360o experiene.
FIRST EDITION: February 2014
The Serielizados Fest first edition was realized on the February 27th 2014 at the Facultat de Comunicació Blanquerna auditorium. Those were the events:
- Humoristic TV series masterclass with Miguel Noguera and Xavi Daura(Venga monjas)
- Screening of the local webseries lavida.es and Les Nostres Vides Dibuixades with the comments of its creators
- Debate about the fiction on television with a showrunner (Javier Olivares), a critic (Alberto Rey) and a distributor (Jaume Ripoll).
- Spanish premiere screening of the francogerman series ‘Ainsi SoientPils‘ (awarded as the best french tv series in 2012). The festival also ofered the online premiere of its first three episodes at SERIELIZADOS (www.serielizados.com), being the first time in which an online magazine goes ahead of televisions and video on demand platforms to premiere a series.
