Masterclass of Vince Gilligan at Blanquerna-URL

The scene is unforgettable: David Simon, after receiving a question regarding the way he works with dialogue, he stands up and asks for a whiteboard and a marker. Someone gets them for him, and without saying anything else he starts writing: EXT. BALTIMORE – NIGHT. The attendees regard each other with expectation. Simon steps aside and contemplates the whiteboard. On it, two characters sitting on an apartment’s front steps exchange a plain “Hey”. He looks at us with satisfaction and explains himself: This was a sequence that I wrote for The Corner. We had lived with the characters, and we knew what was on their minds. They also understood each other, and in a sequence like this one, for instance, it would be unnecessary for them to say anything else.

When you organize a festival and you bring a genius, it’s almost your obligation to do whatever is possible for him or her to share his knowledge. We did so with Simon, and we’re glad to announce that so we will with Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad and co-creator of Better Call Saul.

On Friday the 28th in the morning, at the Faculty of Communication and International Relations Blanquerna auditorium, Gilligan will join film director Nacho Vigalondo to explain firsthand his work methodology and the interiorities of his series. The attendees, mostly audiovisual and media students from Blanquerna – URL, will be able to ask about the gestation, writing and filming of two series that have marked a milestone. We’re sure the activity will leave stories as interesting as the one we just told you about.
