PRO Session: Upcoming Spanish series and the Icelandic case

Production companies, platforms and networks from all over Spain will present their upcoming productions and map out the releases that will soon premiere in our screens. We will have the presence of Diagonal TV, IB3, Playz (TVE), Mediapro-Globomedia, TNT, TV3 and El Terrat.

Three remarkable figures will be representing this edition’s guest country, telling their most recent experiences firsthand. Sigurjón Kjartansson, head of development of RVK Studios, will present Trapped, probably the most ambitious Icelandic series ever, as a study case, and will also unveil how the production of its season two worked. Gísli Örn Garðarsson, cocreator and director of Blackport, winner at the last Berlinale CoPro Series pitching, will explain the coproduction of this corruption and oligarchy plot surrounding the fishing industry in the 80’s Iceland. Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, screenwriter and actress, will show us her point of view in the creation of nordic dramas such as Valhalla Murders and Fangar (Prisoners).

To finish the session, Iván Escobar, screenwriter and producer, will talk about the interesting evolution in terms of production and distribution of his series Vis a Vis.

• 12.20h – 13.30h. Icelandic study case, with the support of Europa Creativa Desk – MEDIA Catalunya.
