Screening: ‘The Animation Will Not Be Televised!’

Screening of a selection of stop motion short films by animators of over-the-top series such as ‘Adventure Time’ or ‘Rick and Morty’. Friday the 21st of April at 22:30, at the CCCB Auditorium.

Open the Portal defines itself as a secret philosophy organization, and it is rightful to do so. From a built out airplane hangar turned creative workshop in Los Angeles, this collective of multidisciplinary artists invents universes and takes them to life using the stop-motion magic. Their studio has hosted the likes of music stars Neil Young, Jeff Lynne and Katy Perry; they have worked for brands like Vans and Honda, and they have even collaborated with the almighty Disney.

In ‘The Animation Will Not Be Televised!’, David Braun, Open The Portal’s creative director, presents a selection of animated short films made during these past years by members of the company and by other animators who have been part of the teams of modern classics like ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Bob Sponge Square Pants’, ‘Adventure Time’ and ‘Robot Chicken’.

This screening will be a great opportunity to discover some of the gems of independent Californian animation, signed by creators of curious and experimental nature who have captured their craziest inventions in groundbreaking, emotional and delirious films.
